West Yorkshire Lane Rider’s charity campaign for Yorkshire Air Ambulance is now underway and Matt Aryton has volunteered to coordinate riders from the RVTR that wish to join in.

This is not a TrailRiders organised event and the registration is open to members and non-members alike. Just choose your donation preference. All donations collected will be passed on in full to WYLR. The following is copied directly from WYLR.

The charity ride is taking place on 8th September in the Peak District, starting at the Hathersage Rd, Sheffield, S11 7TY. There will be parking on-site and on the adjacent road.

We’ve a tough act to follow, as our last ride/campaign saw 120 bikes out on the lanes and over £14,500 raised

This ride will be approximately 100 miles and will take 6 – 7 hours, dependant on pace. This ride is suitable for all abilities, from newbie to experienced rider, so no excuses not to be there.

We are asking for a £10 donation to take part (although not compulsory), and if you wish to donate more, then this will be greatly appreciated. 100% of all monies raised will go toward Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Bikes will need to be fully legal (taxed, tested & insured) and each rider needs to be legal, i.e. have a full or provisional licence, as we will be utilising the legal green lanes in the Peak District

We will post more details of the route a little nearer the time, and details regarding trail riding etiquette.

We are anticipating a strong demand for this, and it’s your opportunity to support a great cause alongside 150 – 200 other riders. Note, there could be more. It also gives us the opportunity to say to the PDNPA that they won’t remove trail riding in the Peaks. The more we get, the more this demonstrates our point.

We will be getting in touch with the media (TV, Radio, Press), but whether they cover this story, remains to be seen. We did have TV coverage on our last one in 2016.

Please also note the both Derbyshire and South Yorkshire Police will be joining us to support the fund-raising and the event. They ARE NOT joining in to police the event. I have assurances that they are not interested if you have a small number plate. This is about charity, the ride and the event itself.

Due to the route, this is a ride for motorbikes only – note that quads will not be able to ride the route, due to the width of some of the lanes.

We welcome everyone who supports this – note, although this is for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, you never know if you’ll need the support of your local Air Ambulance at some point in the future.

Please check you diaries and pencil in the 8th September if you’re free.
